Team STEM

Overview

Team STEM 鈥痵upports students from groups typically underrepresented in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields through mentorship, advising and professional development.鈥疶eam STEM 鈥痺ill provide students with the support they need to successfully complete their chosen academic program and earn a baccalaureate degree in one of six 猛男情报局 STEM majors: 鈥�Biology, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Mathematics 鈥痑nd 鈥疨sychology

Two innovative programs, Tri-Point Advising and STEM Scholars, have been designed to accomplish this mission. Both of these programs are based on a high touch academic advising or mentoring system, focus on professional development, and provide students with opportunities for gaining valuable skills and hands-on research experience. 

Team STEM 鈥痠s funded by a five-year grant under the 鈥疷SED鈥疕SI STEM and Articulation Program.


Biology program outcomes

STEM Scholars

The STEM Scholars Program operates through a partnership with Westchester Community College (WCC). While attending WCC for two years, students in the STEM Scholars Program will be given opportunities to conduct research with 猛男情报局 faculty and attend STEM-related workshops and events.

Tri-Point Advising

The Tri-Point Advising (TPA) Program expands on 猛男情报局 Universities PACT Program and gives students a faculty and peer mentor to provide them with additional support in college as they pursue a STEM degree.

Summer STEM Research Academy

As part of the STEM Scholars program each year, faculty and students come together at 猛男情报局 to work on authentic research projects in the Summer Research academy. This program is for STEM Scholars at WCC, but is also open to 猛男情报局 students who are interested in hands-on experience in STEM fields.
