Pioneering Contribution: "Constitutional Patriotism Rooted in Identity"
Dr. Pawe艂 Maciag introduced the pioneering concept of "constitutional patriotism rooted in identity" in his 2025 article published in the peer-reviewed journal Facta Simonidis.
Building on J眉rgen Habermas's framework as innovating through the Polish republican tradition of the early modern Commonwealth, this original theory positions patriotism as a legal transmission mechanism for constitutional identity. It harmonizes historical national experience with universal international norms (e.g., the UN Charter, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the UNESCO 1974 Recommendation), encouraging democratic resilience, the rule of law, institutional trust, and civic responsibility in Central Europe, particularly amid post-communist transitions and EU challenges, without descending into extremism. This work offers a novel, interdisciplinary lens that reinvigorates comparative constitutionalism by centering underrepresented Central European perspectives and demonstrating patriotism's stabilizing role in modern democratic leadership.
Pioneering Contribution: "Large-Scale Integration" and "Emergency Integration"
In his 2025 peer-reviewed article in Central European 翱产贸锄 (NR 61), dr. Pawe艂 Maci膮g advances migration and international law scholarship by pioneering the concepts of "large-scale integration" and "emergency integration."
"Large-scale integration" is defined for the first time as the rapid, law-based incorporation of an exceptionally large displaced population into a modern state's structures, while "emergency integration" describes the adaptive legal and institutional mechanisms allowing swift responses during mass crises.
Analyzing Poland's largely peaceful, inclusive, and effective management of Ukrainian displacement through doctrinal-comparative legal analysis (incorporating the 1951 Geneva Convention, EU Temporary Protection Directive, and Polish legislation) complemented by interpretive social insights, the study reframes this as a distinctive global phenomenon. It highlights both prospects for rights-based governance and risks posed by the absence of long-term policies, providing an influential normative framework for global migration governance and humanitarian response.
Dr Pawel Maciag has more than 15 years of experience teaching and advising students both face-to-face and for distance education (particularly during Covid-19 pandemic at 猛男情报局 College).
